Working closely with the social welfare organizations in Pretoria, Amadea provides a safe Christian place of safety for approximately 100 children in which the children are given the chance to develop into well-balanced people.
Their focus is on children in need – children who have been abandoned, neglected, abused as well as HIV / AIDS children who are placed at Amadea by the Juvenile Court’s until their cases has been finalized.
Their caring is divided into two broad categories:
- providing a loving and caring home which is known as Amadea Safe House
- reaching out to destitute rural and local communities though provision of essential needs and people development projects
The heart of Amadea Safe House is to provide a home where not only the physical but also the spiritual and emotional needs of needy children are met.

In 1881 a small group of Sisters of Nazareth arrived in South Africa with the mission to provide a place of safety for the elderly in need as well as orphans. Guided by their core values of compassion and hospitality, they have been dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable members of society, regardless of race or religion.
Each programme is overseen by a religious Sister to ensure that it is run to the standard and within the philosophy of the Sisters of Nazareth.
They provides a secure home for abandoned, disabled and orphaned children. They were the first Children’s Home in the Western Cape to accept an HIV infected baby.
For children who need to be removed from dangerous situations, they work closely with the South African Police Service, Missing Persons’ Unit and Child Protection Services to provide an emergency place of safety.
